Since 1975, Howard Alper, founder of Alper Services, has been a member of the “Firemark Circle of the Americas," an organization which brings together people interested in the history of fire brigades, fire fighting equipment, and insurance companies. Alper has hosted the annual FMCA meeting in Chicago, and has arranged for tours the firefighting training facilities, the Survive Alive House, and a Chicago Fire Department fire boat on the Chicago River. Alper Services and Fireman’s Fund Insurance company have been joint contributors to the Chicago Fire Department for the purchase of smoke detectors and educational materials.
