Challenge
A Client was having trouble with their Workers’ Compensation premium being driven by a handful of losses. Over a five-year period, the Client
averaged about 32 claims per year. Each year, however, more than 80% of their total Workers’ Compensation costs were attributable to only
4 or 5 claims.
Action
By enrolling in the Alper Early Intervention
Program, this Client reported every claim through the Program for prompt analysis as “Low Risk”
or potentially problematic “High Risk.” Each High Risk claim received immediate intervention by a nurse case manager with comprehensive plans on how to return the injured employees to work and control the claim costs.
Results
In a one year period, this Client saved approximately $21,000. This was due to the amount of claim
dollars that the Early Intervention Program
prevented from appearing on the Experience Rating Factor. Since claims appear on the ERF for three years, this Client will save a total of $63,000. |
